About Us

Set on the edge of the beautiful, wild Snowdonia National Park in North Wales lies the Shepherd’s Biscuits bakery.

Founded by husband and wife James and Natasha Shepherd in 2013, this small family business produces a range of stunning classic Welsh biscuits and shortbread.

Their range of Aberffraw Biscuits – under the brand name Aberffraw Biscuit Co – are sold on the shelves of some of the most prestigious shops in the world and as far afield as Kuwait and Singapore.

Their signature range of biscuits – “Shepherd’s Welsh Biscuits”- maximise the classic flavours and characteristics of Wales.

Aberffraw Biscuit Co

Aberffraw biscuits are an ancient Welsh shortbread pressed with a scallop shell and said to be Britain’s oldest biscuit… dating to the 12th Century.

Having been almost completely forgotten, Aberffraw Biscuit Co is about resurrecting this gem of British culinary history.

The couple’s business exploits have seen them attract much media attention, including an appearance on the BBC’s The One Show in 2013. Their Traditional shortbread won a Great Taste Award in 2015. James was also named Welsh Food & Drink Entrepreneur 2015 and Aberffraw Biscuit Co won Ambient Food Manufacturer of the Year in the Food Awards Wales 2015.
